When I was five years old, I was in the movie “The Magical Mystery Tour” with The Beatles!
In the “Magical Mystery Tour”, there is a scene where I am sitting on John Lennon’s lap. As we are talking, he is asking me questions. Over and over, my go to answer is “NO!” with a lot of laughter. The song “I am the Walrus” is connected to the phrase “No you’re not!” says little Nicola in the Magical Mystery Tour Album. As I got older, reflecting on this experience, got me thinking about why saying NO! has become so difficult. In my work as a facilitator and coach, the theme of NO keeps coming up. I see many people losing themselves, and their dreams, because they have forgotten the power of NO! I decided to create a 3 lesson course called Rebel NO! It is designed to encourage people to start their personal rebellions.
- Lesson One: I have always known the power of “NO!” but have not always used it. And so I found myself doing things that brought no joy, or in situations that drained me. All this distracted me from my own goals. In week one of “Rebel NO!”, we will focus on why it is so hard for most of us to say NO!
- Lesson Two: Learn 3 strategies you can start to practice right away and begin your “No!” rebellion. You can begin resisting the convention of “no” always being a negative word and instead start to see it as a word that releases you from other peoples’ obligations and allows you to focus on your own.
- Lesson Three: Expand and challenge yourself to deepen your intentionality with 3 new strategies and subsequent tasks to complete.
As a five year old, I didn’t understand the enormity of being in a Beatles film or the power of NO!
As an adult, I am in awe of the joy my Magical Mystery Tour story brings to others. I’m also excited about what I can say YES to now that I’ve learned how to say NO! So register now and start your Rebellion!
